Aspley State High offers a range of support services to students that extend from gifted and talented to students with learning difficulties, learning disabilities and where English is a second language.

The learning support team consists of a variety of professionals and valued volunteers. Advisory visiting teachers are available to students with learning disabilities in class and on an individual basis.

Learning Support is managed by a Teaching & Learning Co-ordinator (TLC) who is responsible for supervising support staff and managing the programs implemented across the curriculum.

These include planning and implementing whole school strategies for literacy and numeracy, providing clear and accountable processes of identifying students with difficulties, documenting assessment and reporting of individual students.

Support for classroom teachers is provided through in-service, collaborative planning and monitoring education programmes through the TLC.

In conjunction with the Guidance Officer and Heads of Department, the TLC accesses and implements outside services to students with learning difficulties or where English is a second language (ESL).

Teacher aides support students with different needs within the classroom so that all students can be included within the mainstream setting. The Learning Assistance Program (LAP) is supported by parent volunteers who assist students with Literacy and Numeracy difficulties.
