The Parents & Citizens Association (P & C) is a great way for parents and other interested community members to support your children and our school.

By joining, you become an active participant of our school's decision making process.

When do we meet?

The P & C meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7.30 pm in the School Administration Building.

A Partnership

A lot can be achieved through the P & C and school working together towards common goals.

To do this we need people from all walks of life who are committed to delivering great outcomes for your children and our school.

The P & C and school partnership is built on trust, respect and shared values. It thrives on open and honest communication relishing the challenges of educating your children in the 21st century.

Everybody has a role to play and your ideas will be heard. The more people involved in our P & C the more exciting and successful it will be.

What is our P & C about?

Our P & C involves people just like you - parents, past parents and community minded people who want to help our school.

We work closely with our school towards building a stronger school community - where all children benefit. The P & C is involved in:

  • School policy decisions and development
  • Financial planning and budgeting
  • Tuckshop management
  • Fundraising activities
  • School functions
  • Uniform and bookshop management
  • Grant writing

Benefits

There are many benefits of joining our P & C. By joining you will show your children how committed you are to their education and the school community.

You will make friendships with other like-minded people and be part of a team that put ideas into action.

You will also be able to watch your children enjoy the benefits of an enhanced learning environment.

P & C contributions

Each year, the P & C contribute $35,000 towards the refurbishing of classroom facilities and the hall. This year we also contributed $5,000 towards the school chaplaincy program.

We support students who represent Aspley SHS in sporting or non-sporting events by reimbursing up to 10 per cent of costs. We are currently raising money to replace the shade cloth above our school pool.

Grants

Queensland Government’s Gambling Community Benefit Fund: $30,000 (replace hall curtains). School Community Development Fund: $62,400 (science lab refit and part of amphitheatre). Australian Government Investing in our Schools Program: $74,745 (canteen refurbishment) and at the end of 2008 Queensland Government’s Gambling Community Benefit Fund $30000 to assist in the replacement of the shade cloth above the pool.
