Aspley State High School is actively involved in the Healthy Choices Program. A committee made up of students, teachers, administrator and tuckshop conveners is working towards achieving the following goals: - Increasing the number of ‘green’ food choices in our tuck shop
- keeping our pricing structure as low as possible to encourage healthy choices
- involve students in the selection of a variety of food choices
- reduce labour intensity in the preparation of food due to the reducing number of tuck shop volunteers and
- increasing food choices knowledge across the school
Our school has received funding from the Federal Government which was used to structure and implement food choices information sessions in the pastoral care program of senior students and to integrate this information through the Middle School Curriculum. Specific curriculum areas such as Physical Education, Health and Home Economics target the food choices program through areas of their curriculum.
