Title: Biology

Biological Science is concerned with the study of the phenomenon of life. It includes the study of the natural systems of the living world, the study of plants and animals and of their interactions with each other and with non-living parts of their environment. The subject also examines the internal working of the body systems of animals and plants, especially body processes that function to maintain a living organism.

A one day excursion is completed in year 12

The Biology program identifies three different areas for assessment. Each category contributes equally to the overall grade. The categories are:

Extended response (ER)
Written task (WT)
Extended experimental investigation (EEI)

Aims

to develop a knowledge and understanding of living processes and systems
to develop an insight into the scientific manner of investigating problems
to develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of the living world in all its complexity
to engage in creative scientific thinking
to develop an ability to apply biological understanding, skills and mental processes to public issues
