Code: BUS004/005 Title: Byte of Business Pre-requisites: Nil Outcome levels: Level 5/6 Coordinator: Ms M Murray Students who are interested in a career in the business world are highly recommended to study this unit. Students are offerred the opportunity to achieve a nationally recognised Certificate I in Business at no cost whilst at school, which may lead them on the pathway to Certificate II and beyond. Students will undertake project-based learning in order to achieve the necessary competencies to complete the certificate. This unit introduces students to the senior subjects of Accounting, Business Communication and Technologies, and Business Studies in an interesting, challenging and fun way. AssessmentAssessment will be largely project based, with some tests. Practical aspects will be assessed through observation. At completion students should know- Credit - what it is, who uses it, and why.
- Borrowing - how to, what for, how to avoid the pitfalls.
- Consumer rights - what they are, and how to use them.
- Interest rates - what to look for, and how to calculate rates.
- Investment options.
- How to set up and investment plan.

At completion students should be able to- Analyse a variety of credit applications.
