Do you like computing? Do you want to create games, not just play them? Are you interested in Artificial Intelligence? Think “The Matrix”. If so, then IPT may be the subject for you!

IPT is a subject for both boys and girls who have a special interest in computing. Students will not only use software, but they will create software as well.

Students will enter the world of software and system engineering, information and intelligent systems, human-computer interaction, and the social and ethical issues that impact on the IT world!

Students who study IPT have the opportunity to gain at least 4 points towards their QCE. This will be made up of:

  • 4 points – by passing IPT (Authority subject), plus
  • 2 points – by completing an optional TAFE Certificate (eg Certificate II in IT), which will run parallel to the school subject*

or

  • 4 points – by passing IPT (Authority subject), plus
  • 8 points – by completing an optional TAFE Certificate (eg Certificate III in IT), which will run parallel to the school subject*

* Subject to final approval

  • Programming Languages (writing code) – including Delphi and SQL
  • Artificial Intelligence – the Turing Test, the Chinese Room Experiment, Chatbots
  • Expert Systems – using ES-Builder and ES-Tree Builder
  • Conceptual Schema Design – using VisioModeler
  • Controversial Social and Ethical Issues – including viruses, hacking, privacy
  • Networking – including microwave radio and satellites
