Code: ENG001
Title: Year 8 English
Outcome levels: Level 4
Coordinator: Steve Meaghan

Year Eight English is based on the English essential learnings. There are four genres that the students study in the course, these are news reports including novel study, film review, poetry and opinionative speech, focusing on debating. The course aims to develop student confidence in writing and speaking skills essential to their development in all subject areas.

We have also incorporated topical media subject matter.  This maintains the relevancy of the course to maximise student engagement in the curriculum. Students will use computer processing, internet and book research to complete assessment items, improving skills in these areas.

We aim to  promote tolerance of other cultures, an active and logical approach to problem solving and an enjoyment of their own language in both written and oral form.
