Welcome to the Home Economics Faculty. Home Economics incorporates a range of options focusing on food selection & preparation as well as clothing design & construction.

In the Senior School, we offer our students the option of the Authority Subject - Home Economics. This unit contributes toward an OP score and provides students with a range of practical food and textile activities.

Alternatively, students may choose the VET pathway in Hospitality that focuses on the future and possible part-time or full-time employment within hospitality.

We also offer certificate courses for students interested in a career as a chef in the “back of house” or “front of house” attending to customers in the food & beverage service areas.

As part of the Hospitality programs, students have the opportunity to participate in “on the job” learning at the Kedron Wavell RSL Club under the supervision of our chef and teacher of Hospitality, Mr Cameron McCormack.

Culinary Challenges

The Culinary Challenges are an opportunity for students to engage in cooking recipes with a high degree of difficulty. The recipes are set by the senior Hospitality class and students are encouraged to submit photos of their creations by the due date. Entries will be judged by the year 12 Hospitality class and awards will be given for the best entries. Follow the links below for more details.
