Code: HPE001 Our health is our most valuable asset and studies show that good health is closely linked to the pursuit of a balanced, active lifestyle. In this unit of study, students through their participation in a variety of physical activities and theoretical tasks, learn and develop skills to maintain and improve their health and to value healthy, active sport or recreative pursuits. This unit provides a broad scope to assist all students to make and develop healthy lifestyle choices and is a pre-requisite to more detailed selective studies in this field in years 9 and 10. Topics
AssessmentAssessment will be made through students’ performance on physical and theoretical tasks. Physical performance will be assessed by ongoing observation of students’ abilities to perform physical tasks against set criteria. (N. B. It is not a measure of fastest and strongest but of the ability to perform the task criteria effectively). Theoretical Tasks will consist of collecting, presenting and analysing data, short answer written tests and take home tasks.
