Title: Everyday Science
Coordinator: Mr Michael Sparks

Science is part of everyday life. When we wake up in the morning we need to eat and digest food to survive. We are able to detect changes in the environment using our nervous system. We look at our parents and see similarities. We think about having children and what they will be like.

Everyday we use electricity in our homes. How does this work? Can we be sure we can use electricity safely? What other energy options could we be using? Chemical reactions happen inside our bodies and all around us. How does pH affect shampoos, soaps and swimming pools? Why should we care about the environment? How do we know what to believe about what is in the newspaper or on the TV?

These are some of the issues and questions which will be investigated in this unit. You will do lots of experiments along the way.
