The Investiture Ceremony starts the year with the induction of the senior leadership group and house-captains. The Pastoral Care Program centres on post-secondary education options, QCS preparation and pre-schoolies education.

QCS

The Queensland Core Skills Test (QCS) takes place in September. Preparation is undertaken throughout the year with information and feedback sessions culminating into two full practices prior to the official test.

Students wishing to be excused from sitting for the QCS must bring a written note from their family.

School Formal & Graduation

Our Year 12s are farewelled in style at a Graduation Ceremony and School Formal on the last day of their school year.

The Graduation Ceremony is conducted on the morning of their last day. All graduating students and parents can attend.

The School Formal is conducted on the last evening of their senior year and is by invitation only. To earn the right to be invited, all school fees/debts must be paid in full and students must also meet our high expectations for attendance, assessment and behaviour.

Invitations are distributed in the first week of Term 4. Students in danger of missing out on an invitation will be given plenty of warning.

Sports

All students must participate in the Wednesday Afternoon sports program. This is a compulsory program that runs throughout the school year.

Students will be given choices to participate within inter-school competitions or recreational activities. A flat fee is charged to subsidise these school activities.

Parents who choose to make regular medical appointments during this time to excuse students from this program will be required to present the name and phone number of the medical practitioner for verification by the school Principal.

All appointments must be presented to the Principal by Tuesday of that week. Unauthorised absences from sport will be treated as truancy.

Work Ethic Policy

Students who fail to attend school regularly or fail to submit assessment on time, place their educational outcomes at risk of underachieving. Aspley State High School's Work Ethic Policy outline clear expectations for student assessment and attendance practices. Students who fail to adhere to these expectations could have their enrolments cancelled during year 11 or 12.
