Representative Sport

Students have the opportunity to gain representative selection in the sports conducted by Queensland Secondary School Students Sports Association (QSSSSA) during the year. We strongly encourage and support students in these endeavours.

They may need to be selected in a Central District team to compete at Regional cluster days held throughout the year or nominate directly to trial at those cluster days. Please refer to the School Sports Calendar to find out the timing for the cluster days. When nominating for these trials, students are required to take with them a series of completed forms to allow them to participate . These forms can be downloaded from this site by below. As well as these forms , students have to get permission from the school to participate. This form is available from the sports department at the school and must be signed by the principal. These forms can also be accessed from the met north sport website and are also available on the intra school network on staff common.

Personal Injuries

Physical activities, including sports, have inherent risks. Parents should be aware that the school does not have ‘accident insurance’ to cover medical or other costs in the event of accidental injury. The school recommends that parents should consider private insurance to ease concerns in this regard.

Parents wishing to make a claim for expenses resulting from injuries at school should make a written request to the Director, Legal and Administrative Law Branch (PO Box 15033, City East, QLD 4022). The request must outline the circumstances of the injury, the amount claimed and the reasons the parent believes the school caused the injury. Any such claims will be considered on their merits.

Acceptance of claims is based on demonstrated negligence on the part of the school, and is not automatic. Parents wishing to explore the options available to them should seek independent legal advice.
