Year 11

Welcome to Year 11. The focus of the Year 11 program at Aspley State High School is to provide students with opportunities to develop their leadership skills and explore their full potential. We encourage students to engage in these opportunities and be actively involved within the school community.

In term 4 students may nominate for the various school captain roles. School Captains will be announced on our annual awards night.

A diverse range of activities are offered throughout the year:

  • Big Brother/ Sister program where the Yr 11s mentor Middle School students
  • Pastoral Care program encompassing leadership, life skills, social skills
  • QCS preparation
  • Weekly year level parade organised by class reps
  • Training as peer mediators
  • Yr 11 vs staff team sporting challenges
  • Committees - Student Welfare, Senior Jersey, tuckshop volunteers

Sports

All students must participate in the Wednesday Afternoon sports program. This is a compulsory program that runs throughout the school year.

Students will be given choices to participate within inter-school competitions or recreational activities. A flat fee is charged to subsidise these school activities.

Parents who choose to make regular medical appointments during this time to excuse students from this program will be required to present the name and phone number of the medical practitioner for verification by the school Principal.

All appointments must be presented to the Principal by Tuesday of that week. Unauthorised absences from sport will be treated as truancy.

Senior Jersey

Year 11 students will be given the opportunity to order a Senior Jersey for their senior year. Payments must be made in full before the order is sent.

Work Ethic Policy

Students who fail to attend school regularly or fail to submit assessment on time, place their educational outcomes at risk of underachieving. Aspley State High School's Work Ethic Policy outlines clear expectations for student assessment and attendance practices. Students who fail to adhere to these expectations could have their enrolments cancelled during Year 11 and 12.
