 To attain the ICA20105 Certificate II in Information Technology, 14 units must be achieved:

  • BSBCMN106A - Follow workplace safety procedures
  • ICAU2005A - Operate computer hardware
  • ICAU2231A - Use computer operating system
  • ICAU2006A - Operate computing packages
  • ICAD2012A - Design organisational documents using computing packages
  • ICAU2013A - Integrate commercial computing packages
  • ICAW2002A - Communicate in the workplace

plus 6 electives units of competency (sample)

  • ICAU1128A - Operate a personal computer
  • ICPMM321A - Capture a digital image
  • ICPMM263A - Access and use the Internet
  • CUFMEM02A - Author a multimedia product
  • ICAU3004A - Apply occupational health and safety procedures

Where Certificate II in Information Technology is partially achieved through the achievement of one or more units of competency, the student may be issued with a Statement of Attainment.

It is possible for students to achieve Certificate II in Information Technology (a nationally recognised qualification) during the final years of secondary school education subject to the demonstration of competency to a standard expected in the workplace.

Aims

Certificate II in Information Technology provides foundation general computing and employment skills that enable participation in an information technology environment in any industry.

The contents of this qualification are useful at an ICT user level and could equip an individual to undertake roles such as office assistant or to work in records management at a junior level.
