Title: The Individual
Pre-requisites: ENG002

Students will build on  skills learned in Eng 001- 003. The focus will be on developing analytical processes necessary for studies in Senior English, whilst maintaining a practical hands on component to engage all students.  Students will develop skills in word processing and research on the internet.

The theme of the individual will feature in many topics used for assessment. English 004 The individual is the fourth unit in English studies.This will provide a contrast to Eng 005 (Society).  

Students will be expected to create drafts and use the writing process to develop and polish their work.Units will be 4/5 weeks in length and are based on the English Years 1-10 Syllabus.

Written pieces will be 400 words minimum. Oral pieces 3 - 5 minutes.

At completion students should know

How to write a feature article

The plot, character and themes of a studied novel.

What biography is and have read extracts from their chosen biography.

How to construct a digital story.

At completion students should be able to

Perform a drama piece off by heart

Use the writing process to improve written pieces.

Speak effectively to an audience using powerpoint to augment presentations.

Literacy elements

Comprehending, analysing, synthesizing.

Integrated technology

Word processing and research on the internet. Powerpoint windows moviemaker.
