Title: The Third Dimension: Working With Sculpture
Pre-requisites: Either ART001 or ART002
Coordinator: Ms Sue Lonsdale

Sculpture enjoys a broad history with a varied role in our lives.  From practical vessels to social commentary, sculpture has always had a significant place in our society.  This unit explores the world of sculpture and the way both we impact on it and, in turn, how sculpture impacts on us.

A number of aspects of art will be explored in this unit as students move from two dimensional representations to three dimensional sculptures.  Students will develop their understanding of the aesthetic by experimenting with traditional Japanese pot making and the related ceremonies and working through to the Pop Art era with soft sculpture and the work of Claes Oldenburg.
