Title: Spotlight
Pre-requisites: DNC001 and DNC002 or DNC003 and DNC004
Coordinator: Ms Sue Lonsdale

Spotlight allows students to look at influences that have shaped them as a person, create movement that has meaning and respond to a variety of stimuli. Students have the opportunity to explore contemporary dance and reach beyond their known boundaries. Students also have the opportunity to create their own production.

Assessment

Students will complete the following pieces of assessment:

  • A performance task – Contemporary piece: Mid term 3 
  • A choreographic task – Hip Hop dance piece: End term 3
  • A performance task – Production dance: Mid term 4
  • An appreciation task – Report on production: Mid term 4
  • A choreographic task – Production movement: Mid term 4
At completion students should know
  • How to create a motif and develop movement
  • How to manipulate movement
  • The background on specific choreographers
  • What influences peoples choreography
  • The importance of all parts of a production 
At completion students should be able to
  • Respond to stimuli
  • Create contemporary movement
  • Teach other students
  • Document all choreographic ideas
  • Design sound, lighting, props and costumes
  • Perform individually and in a group with confidence
  • Report on a performance
