The Aspley State High School P&C Association provides both parents and community members the opportunity to gain a better depth of their school, gaining knowledge of upcoming activities, proposed ideas for the future and to have opportunities to share views on school policies. The P&C is active in applying for grants for equipment or structures that will benefit the students.
Other areas in which the P&C Association actively supports are:
Student Resource Scheme (SRS)
The P&C supports a Student Resource Scheme (SRS) as operated by the school. This scheme allows students to have access to all avenues of learning materials, including textbooks, class book sets, printed notes, physical education resources, sport resources and consumable class materials.
Textbook and Resource Allowance
As outlined in the SRS documents, the applicable Government Textbook and Resource Allowance for each year level is paid directly to the school.
Uniforms
Aspley State High School is a uniform school. This means that the whole school community has decided that all students wear the Aspley High uniform. All items of uniform clothing are available from WEARECO store on Kirby Road at Aspley, just around the corner from the school. We also have a second hand uniform shop on the school grounds which stocks some second-hand uniforms. Our uniform is an essential part of our school culture, instilling pride in our school, our presentation and our community. The P&C support disciplinary procedures for students who do not comply with the School Dress Code.
Meetings
The P and C Association meets on Wednesday nights in Week 4 and 9 of the school term. The meetings begin at 6:15 pm and conclude at 7.00 pm. The Principal’s Report is published to members on the Friday before the meeting. Each meeting has an Agenda and will often provide a focus of areas of interest for parents e.g. guest staff members, student presenters or a Principal Spotlight. These topics are published and advertised in advance. Reports from the P and C include financial reports and updates on projects being supported by the P and C. New members are warmly welcomed. Please check the newsletter, website calendar or Facebook for details.
