Overview

Established in 2012, the Aspley Eagles Football Academy offers talented and passionate students a pathway of footballing excellence through their secondary studies. Students will acquire a skill set that will not only allow them to be successful on the football field, but also in life after school with civility and a growth mindset.

We aim to provide

Students with regular access and opportunities to play the game
Access to coaches with advanced qualifications
Pathways for talented students to access representative teams
Opportunities for students who are still developing their skillset
A balance between academic studies and Football
A holistic approach to Football
Level 4 Refereeing qualification and mentoring from experienced referees and assessors
Football tours (last tour in 2019 was to the United Kingdom. We are currently in discussions about our next tour in 2021).

Two tiered approach

As long as students actively participate and can consistently demonstrate appropriate social behaviours, all students are welcome to participate in our Academy, regardless of their skill level.

Structure

Based on the Health and Physical Education Syllabus.

The Aspley Eagles Academy students in Years 8 to 10 can expect to have 3 classes of 70 minutes per week for both semesters. Students in Year 7 will have 2 classes of 70 minutes for the duration of the year.

As students select the Aspley Eagles Academy over two semesters, the Junior Health and Physical Education Curriculum (Years 7 to 10) is divided between the Australian Curriculum and specialised Football content.

Senior Students in Year 11 and 12 can select a specialised Football Sport and Recreation course that is worth 4 QCE points.
